Curtis Marvin – New York Jets
We’ve witnessed how a stellar team can elevate an average player, but here’s a different perspective: a team can also mask the true potential of an individual when the rest of the squad falls woefully short. Martin, originally a running back for the Patriots, serves as a prime example of this phenomenon.

While in the league, he held his own, earning Pro Bowl honors five times and claiming the rushing yards crown in 2004. His contributions undeniably merited a place in the Jets Ring of Honor. Unfortunately, a knee injury abruptly terminated Martin’s career in 2007. The lingering question remains: Would his true skill have shone had he been part of a higher-caliber team? In a twist of fate, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012, just in his second year of eligibility.
