Ken Stabler – Oakland Raiders
This seasoned quarterback boasted an impressive 17-year tenure in the NFL, but as we’ve discerned, mere participation doesn’t always equate to extraordinary skill. While he did hoist the Super Bowl trophy, many argue it was more a result of good fortune and being part of an exceptional team.

His résumé includes an NFL MVP title in 1974 and two crowns as the passing touchdowns leader. However, critics contend that his shine was largely a reflection of the talented players surrounding him. With a quarterback rating of 75.3, he certainly performed decently, but greatness remained elusive. The fact that his induction into Canton’s hallowed halls didn’t transpire until 2016, long after his 1984 retirement and posthumously, suggests that the decision was far from straightforward.
