Eco-Friendly Root Bridges of Meghalaya
Visitors who step inside the Meghalaya forest may think they’ve stepped into another world. In the depths of the forests, grow eleven bridges made entirely out of the roots of rubber trees! The beautifully twisted bridges are truly nature’s marvel, although they did not form naturally.

The bridges were created 178 years ago by the Khasi and Jaintia tribes, who have mastered the art of growing root bridges across the streams through the thick woods of Meghalaya. Some of the bridges are longer than one hundred feet! It takes between 10-15 years to attain the desired shape.
